To many recalls

I've had 2 reacalls already. My active air flap system needs fixed but way too expensive to do.. After looking online lots of people are having same issue but there is no recall for that? I Will never buy another Hyundai. It's a money pit.

A hybrid that gets the mileage of a gas only vehicle

In general the car has performed well over the years, but it was purchased to increase the miles per gallon. This did not happen! I was later informed that it was found that Hyundai misrepresented the actual mpg. I was stuck! For about a year we received money representing the gasoline cost difference but that vanished just like the performance. I won’t purchase another Hyundai.

Awful

I will never purchase a Hyundai again. I don't feel as they are truthful. They cannot provide me with proof of there claims like wire harness goes. So far rear camera , brake lights, all headlights and now radio are all on fritz. I suspected water damage but according to dealer Nope these just happen

Terrible

I wouldn’t recommend this vehicle to anyone. I like how good it is on gas and that’s about it. I have had so many problems since I got the car and it’s ridiculous. I didn’t have half as many problems before with my last vehicle so this is unacceptable. I don’t know if it’s the car or the fact that the dealership I bought it from was not good to me and sold me a foul car. The acceleration is terrible.

Not a Quality Product

I often tell people who compliment my 2012 Sonata SE, don't be fooled. It's an attractive piece of junk. Hyundai makes nicelyt appointed good looking cars, but the recalls, major repairs, low quality products are not worth the 100,000 mi warranty touted as the gold standard. Let's be honest, no one wants a bi-annual visit to the dealer for recalls or other costly repairs after 60,000miles! The 100,000 mi warranty covers PowerTrain, but nothing else. It seems everything else goes south within the 60,000-100,000mi period. Then after 100,000, it becomes a game of Russian roulette. Do yourself a favor and buy a Honda, Toyota or Mazda...the car may not be as pretty, but should you know that names of just about everyone at the Service center because you spend so much of your valuable time there?

Not what I expected

The Hyundai Sonata is a nice looking vehicle, but mechanical issues and constant recalls are alarming. It just never drives like a newer vehicle. This is my first time buying a Hyundai, and it has left a bad taste in my mouth. I really doubt if another Hyundai would be in my future.

Transmission woes

When we first bought the car,we LOVED it. It had everything we were looking for. Plenty of room for our three growing kids and plenty of trunk space for our family trips. Then the transmission problems started. My wife not hates to drive this car.

Transmission sensor...

It seems all the sonatas are having this transmission issue and Hyundai has done nothing to fix it. Not even extend the manufacturing warranty or offer a discount. It's not right and I don't appreciate it!!!

Never again!

The engine seized after 120,000 miles. No indication it was going to happen. No check engine light came on. It just stopped! Never again will I buy a Hyundai. I have heard that the 2.4 engines have had a lot of issues - but never thought it would happen to me. Thanks Hyundai!

Never had a problem with completion of works/service on the car until September 2020

Not satisfied. You might want to restart the inspection of cars you service. It doesn't look good to pick up a car and on the way home it breaks down again and then after a week something else is wrong. Maybe you might want to restart the major/computer inspection of cars after servicing.

Car sucks

It has a safety recall that Hyundai charged me for still not fixed, would never buy another Hyundai. And this is not my first had a Santa Fe also and while that car or SUV was much better the cars suck. I have many friends that bought Elantras but only because they were cheap

Good fuel mileage horrible paint.

My 2012 Hyundai Sonata is an awesome car, if you love a car that averages 28 mpg and the indigo paint peels causing rust. Mediocre interior and major problems every few years. The motor was replaced at 45k miles and the fuel pump at 75k. After the warranty ran out there was even more problems, but who needs a high pressure a/c hose anyways.

Very problematic vehicle

It had so many issues don’t even wanna talk about it. Not even 90k I had to go to service multiple time. Engine got blown out, I had to wait long to get my vehicle fixed. Touch screen is very bad, I had to use pen or something different than finger.

2012 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid

I have had nothing but problems with this car. I will never own another hybrid car. It's roomy, nice inside, but it's very cheaply made. Hyundai doesn't want to help when something goes wrong either nor respond to emails.

Hyundai Sonata GLS 2012

I was disappointed in the suspension on my new car once I had driven it on less than smooth roads. The headlights are less than adequate at night when on low beam causing the windshield to darken halfway down. This is actually a safety hazard in my opinion and should be looked at in future models.

I would not buy another Hyundai Sonata.

Since I bought my Sonata in 2012, I have been having trouble with it. I must say the only reason that makes me keep the car is that it was fully paid and the staff is professional. I myself work for a retail business and I know how customer service should be. The employees at Valley Hyundai are pleasant and professional.

Not Much Savings Not Good Miliage

2012 Sonata Hyb Limited Purchased New - 38 MPG 1st 30k Miles Great. Best Gas Mileage I can get after 55k miles is 31 MPG Highway - Sucks. That's It. Not Worth the extra $$$ plus poor MPG with poor performance. Not worth it. Entertainment Center has been replaced 3 times. Power Steering Coupling just broke. Should be a recall. Dangerous

Water leaks and electronic gliches

This vehicle would be a 5 star Rating if not for two issues that have plagued it since purchase. One, the tail lights always get water in them and turn green with gunk. They were replaced once but soon the green mold had returned. The radio and navigation system has never worked and has been replaced twice and on June 6th will be replaced again. This is a 2012 Sonata Hybrid with less than 30K in mileage. I just don't think this leaves me with a fuzzy good feeling.
