2012 Hyundai Sonsta

The car has been very dependable. The 2.0 Turbo engine and transmission we love. Design of the car inside and out we very much like. The ride on this suspension and low profile tires is not good to say the least, very rough. The panoramic sun roof rattles. We have had it looked at several time to no avail. Last week they looked at the sunroof one more time and said it would have to be replaced. Cost would be thousands of dollars to us. Not worth it for an 8 year old car with 42,000 miles.

Mix emotions

I like and love my car but parts are very expensive when need it to be fix. Parts are also hard to find sometimes. My brothers tell me all the time to get rid of my car because one time they were helping me fixed it and the parts are expensive and difficult to find.

Way too many recalls

Every time I turn around there’s a recall on basic safety things like seat belt anchors not working, air bags not deploying during an accident. It’s expensive to fix, replacement parts don’t last as long as original.

great car

Great car with a good warranty but I'd recommend selling it before it gets out of warranty. Quit buying American-made cars in 1984 and have been satisfied with Toyota Nissan Mazda and now Hyundai. We were considering buying a new Palisade but the reliability of the Hyundai isn't quite what we expected never had additional repairs on any of the other import cars we bought.

Hyundai Sonata

I love my Sonata in many ways, however, it now has its third engine in it, and has had multiple recalls in each of the years I have had it. Consequently, when I went to purchase a second car, I chose not to buy a Hyundai.

2012 Sonata 2.0 T

Good car overall engine problems, Hyundai warrantied the engine, just took a long getting parts to repair it. Hyundai had to replace a bunch of these engines, due to a manufacturer defect. Hopefully the replacement engine will be better

It's just a recall and the warranty dealer doesn't respond properly.

Nice car Until 100,000mile. after 180,000 miles, the car has to be scrapped. I can't even sell it. Obviously, the quality is significantly better than the Hyundai of 20 years ago. But I can't recommend it to people around me. I have experience working for Hyundai related companies. So I try to buy a Hyundai. But I'm not sure if I'll buy a Hyundai next time.

Electrical issues but spacious inside and quick

This car has electrical problems. I have a super 4 cyl. And moves quite fast in a pinch when needed. Looks cool, but has issues electronically. Tail lights burn out the brake light assembly so your shit is always burnt out. Having to replace bulbs all the time is bs. Am going to try switching to led to see if that works better. Cabin lights also burnt out. Much prefer the awesomeness of Toyotas better.

I LOVE my Hyundai! My second Sonata !

My first Sonata '03 lasted about 160K mi and 9 years. I LOVED it. But, it was time to let go. I shopped, drove 18 other cars, and bought a 2012 Sonata! Boring, but I still love it!. I have recently found 2 flaws. One, the front rides low and often encounters parking stops, curbs, etc. and #2 even when caution is exercised, these objects tear up the bottom of the car! Extreme diligence is required. But, driving the car is a dream. The dashboard is designed for extreme ease of use, the seats are very comfy, the trunk carries everything I need, and the back seat keeps my passengers comfy also (or so they tell me). Would I buy it again? YES!

2012 Sonata

I love my Sonata, but there are things I would change. Backing up is difficult at times as there is a blind spot. I also had to replace a fuel pump at 53K miles - it was under warranty, but it still concerns me. I previously owned Hondas and did not have any work other than general maintenance before 150K miles. I still love her, but am a little leery now!

black & green letters or numbers on blue background are very difficult to read. white on blue is easy and can be read at a glance.

Small issues but good car

I only have two three issues with my car. 1. Mileage not as good as advertised. 2. I wished there were lights under the unlock door switches. I have to open my car door at night to open the door to others. 3. A spare tire did not come with my car at the time of sale the salesperson said I would not need one.

2012 Hyundai Sonata SE

I love my Sonata for the most part, it's a very reliable and sporty looking, family style sedan. I get compliments on it all the time. It has all the features I was looking for in a vehicle. My only issues: fuel economy isn't exactly what it was rated at being since I'm only averaging about 24 mpg, it down shifts hard when going up an inclined hill, and the radio when connected to Bluetooth media play seems to glitch/skip every few minutes. I love my car, and Hyundai has gained a customer for life. It's about time for an upgrade to a newer Sonata I think lol.

Great Car

I like everything about my Sonata except it has more cabin noise than I would like. Fuel mileage is very good and it handles very well on the road.

Lots to love, some things to improve

Overall, I really like my 2012 Sonata Hybrid. I rode in a Sonata in Korea in 1997, and wanted one ever since. When my 2000 BMW 528 was showing its age, I happened to see this car in a used car lot. I drove it and bought it. I appreciate the ride, handling, the creature comforts, the electronics, the seats, the storage spaces, and the visibility all around. I just set up Blue Link, and it seems very useful. I wish it had a little more power (call me spoiled by my previous car). I expected to trade in the BMW's power for fuel economy with a hybrid, but I found a huge difference in power for a relatively small increase in gas mileage (I used to average 26 MPG in my BMW, I'm averaging around 33 for my Sonata). I wish the trunk was a little bigger, because the battery takes up a lot of room. I wish it had a larger fuel tank--range is about 430-450 miles, even when on the freeway, doing around 60, on cruise control. Sometimes I wonder if I'd done better if I'd bought a conventionally powered Sonata...

Problems with AUTO Climate Control

Auto Climate Control emits a TONE and circulation switches from inside to outside. I have to turn off the AUTO to stop the tone and turn on the AC and switch the circulation from outside to inside. I love the car other than this problem which just started early June.
