Very impressive with my Sonata!
I bought a new 2014 Sonata in August 2014 from San Tan Hyundai in Gilbert, AZ. The transaction was smooth and servicing has always been handled professionally.
In the first 3 weeks of April 2016 I went on a 2400 mile round trip from Phoenix into northern Montana and back with my Hyundai Sonata. I carried several hundred pounds of gear. Along the way I encountered heavy, driving rain and 40-60 mph winds in Salt Lake; snow over the mountain passes north of Idaho Falls and snow all the way into northern Montana with gusty 30-40 mph winds. I set my cruise at safe speeds going up and at the legal limit of 80 mph on the freeway coming home. Upon completion of the trip I had 37.5 mpg average over 2400 miles. I never felt the car being pushed around or losing traction on curves. I engaged my traction enhancing system on snowy mountain roads and curves and never felt the least bit unsafe or that I was pushing the car beyond it's safe limits. I have been riding Harley Davidson MC's for many years so I know a little something about handling a vehicle on curves or under less than ideal conditions.
My Sonata is so well aerodynamically designed it slips through heavy winds and driving rain with virtually no adverse effects. It offers standard options that you would pay for in other vehicles so it's a great value. I love the back up camera. The mileage is excellent! It takes the road in a solid stance and eats up curves on snowy mountain roads. It gives a comfortable ride with more headroom (I am 6'2" - 250 pounds) than our Lexus ES 350 and ample interior space. It has an excellent Bluetooth system and a high quality stereo. The car has a killer AC system which operates flawlessly and the vehicle has power to spare! At times I feel there is a little jet engine buried under that hood! On this trip I saw a multitude of Elantra's and Sonata's and to a lesser degree, Tucson's and Santa Fe's.
Hyundai's are dynamic cars offering a good looking, sleek design, great value, and Hyundai's are hugely popular here in the SW USA. Wake up Toyota drivers! The Hyundai offers much more for much less! Only reason I can see for not owning one is if you live in a small remote town where there is no dealer.
I have only one minor complaint. Because I am a big guy, when I am driving, my left knee tends to rest on the dimpled material on the door interior just below the door handle. This creates a very uncomfortable knee position resulting in a blister on my left knee cap when I wear shorts. I bought a small cushion and use it whenever I am driving and it resolves the problem. I would suggest getting rid of the dimpled door panel and replacing it with a cushioned panel. That's it. I would highly recommend this car to anyone.
