Love the car but did come at a price
I owned a 2011 Sonata and based on circumstances and a great offer on trading it in purchased a 2015 Sonata as it sounded like a lot of effort went in to addressing the few issues I had with the 2011 (that I liked a lot). The 2011 was a fun car to drive that got 40 mpg on the highway and was just a fun car to drive. It was spunky and responsive although did have a large number of recalls (though it never broke down on me or had an issue that wasn't covered by the warranty). The 2015 is an improved vehicle, much more comfortable, more stable ride, options that match what I want, sharp looking, with the sport/regular/economy drive modes it is fun as in sport mode around town it is peppy and just as much fun to drive as the 2011 with more comfort. The ONLY down side is while the car feels much more solid with a better ride on the open highway in economy mode the MPG dropped from 40 to 34. Given the heavier vehicle and improved ride I expected the fuel economy to drop, just not that much. In regular mode for in town driving the 2015 actually gets better mileage so there is an up side to. Overall the 2015 is sharper and has a much better feeling to the ride than the 2011 and I'm happy with my decision and would recommend the 2015 to someone in a second as I thoroughly enjoy its looks, ride, feel, features, and improved feel of quality (stability in ride and smoother handling of rough roads). I loved the 40 MPG but for the trade offs am satisfied with the 34 MPG even if it went from exceeding estimated mileage to falling short, Hyundai did a great job in re-engineering the vehicle in leaving the good and improving what needed it. Even the sound system is much improved and with the USB hookup to my smart phone I have incredible features available on my car touch screen through my phone that I would have never suspected but now that I have found just love it. A nice surprise to an already positive experience. When it comes to the car the 2015 Sonata is at the moment the best car I have owned overall and if the cost of ownership remains as low as the 2011 will continue to be. That will take time to find out though. After 9 months though I am happy with my choice of the Sonata over a Toyota or Honda equivalent and recommend it to friends and family. Many who have liked it enough to ask to drive after being a passenger as the co-pilot introduction made them want to feel how it drove leaving me with a couple of co-workers who now own new 2015 Sonata's. I think that speaks volumes, as do the letters from insurance companies offering me discounts based on my owning Hyundai's (I also have a Tuscon)
