Love My Sonata

I can not wait for my next new car lease (my current lease will be done in September) and I am ready for my next one. I am finding the most difficult part is answering this evaluation and sending it off to your corporate offices....I can't send it off because your require at least 200 characters...the reason I love Delray Hyundai is because they do not weigh and boggle you down with burdensome b.s.

First time owner

I’ve traveled quite a bit with my car, and appreciate the gas mileage. One thing I don’t like is the car is very noisy. Road noise and engine noise fill the cabin at highway speed‘s. Car is nicer for around town at a slower speed‘s. The four-cylinder engine that has plenty of app.

It's ok..the antenna already came off.if u can't use regular gas ,it runs like shit.nt good on gas like my Camry.with a/c on engine runs faster.seat on driver sides hurts my back.cant get comfortable

2016 Sonata se

Great car with all the features. Very spacious. Drives good. Only problem, it's burning lot of oil. Have to keep topping every 1k. Bought it at 29k miles , so relatively new, So not happy with that issue. As per dealership/ company standards cannot do anything unless burning 1quart per 1k miles I am burning .6q pet 1k. Not too happy with this assessment and policy.

Hyuandai Sonata limited dissappointing

I would not recommend Hyundai to friends in that they have serious problems in their engineering and design of this vehicle. Also I feel cheated and conned that I have to pay $300.00 a year more to use my electronic options especially the remote start. I did not know this until after purchase. To pay $9.00 a month to use ones remote starter is infuriating. Also, who was the brain trust that decided to put very bright yellow/orange 4way flashers and headlights on after the remote start starts the engine; to tell every criminal and ne'er-do-well in a two block radius that someone will be right out for their robbery convenience. While I'm at it; who needs to see your rear wheels and the ground when you back-up? Why do the mirrors tilt down to view the rear tires and the ground when the vehicle is placed in reverse and backing? One has to stop and manually override this after the mirrors tilt down to view the rear tires and the ground. One needs to see the rear and sides of the car when backing not the ground. The engine sounds like there are nuts and bolts being pushed around in the engine when it is running, very noisy engine. The engine had a recall to reprogram the computer in an attempt to decrease interior wear and tear. What's up with that! It definitely does not instill confidence! I had to have my sunroof fixed 3 times! Hyundai has some engineering and design issues that cause me grief and eliminate all possibilities of ever recommending them to a friend. The car is disappointing. All this and I have very very low milage. I am angry that they are nickel and diming me as long as I own the car to use the options I purchased. They cheated me on the remote start! No other company charges $9.00 a month to use the remote start! To use all my options It is over $300 a month and that doesn't include the $253.00 a year for the Serius xm radio! I feel cheated and taken. The car styling is gorgeous. It is possibly the largest car made as far as comfort in the cabin. I am a very big guy 6'3" 350 lbs. and I can comfortably fit in any seat with people as large as me in the other seats. They located the side center post behind the seated occupant's shoulder giving 6-7 inches more across the shoulder area of the front seats. The

2006 much better

The only thing better about my 2016 Sonata is that it has the back up camera. Otherwise my EXCELLENT 2006 has it all over the 2016 by a thousand percent! There is not enough storage places in for the driver. The center console unused to be two layers and was great for storage. The door is difficult to open, weighty and tends to slam back and bruise my leg. The extra wide space to step into the car, makes getting out very difficult and dangerous. If you don't slide forward enough on the seat and stand up putting your feet on the ground you can easily fall backward into the car. I have done that 4 or 5 times and hurt myself. This is a dangerous vehicle. Also it is very noisy inside.

I love my Sonata, but...

I really do love my car, but it’s been in the shop 4 times since June 29th for the same thing - a problem with the Engine Control System. While I do appreciate the opportunity to familiarize myself with other automobiles (the loaners/rentals), I would really like to see my Sonata fixed for good.

I love my Sonata. But lately things have been falling apart off of it and I've only had it for 3 years. Love the confort and that it drives really well. Listen save has that recall on the sensor on the engine my car has been running a little off. Something about that sensor that messes up it slows down my car to where I can only go 60 miles per hour and that my car also stalls. But I'll far am i through years of having it so far has been great besides those minor things and also tell me do my paint supposed to be peeling off.

erratic acceleration

If acceleration problems could be fixed it would not be a safety hazard to drive. I get a lot of flashing lights and horn blowing when car does not accelerate from a full stop.at a light or pulling into traffic. Have to allow more than normal amount of space to pull into traffic. When you step on gas at times it doesn't move until tach hits 4000rpm.

Going, going , gone

I was in love with my vehicle when I first purchased. Up until this year when I noticed that my paint was chipping off. Off course I searched to see if this was a known issue and to my surprise it is. I have taken my vehicle in numerous occasions to be serviced and the missing paint was not even a thing of discussions.

Knocks

I hope the frequent knocks are not going to become a transmission issue. I purchased this vehicle with the intention of keeping it for at least eight years. I plan to take it to the dealership for a check. Don't think this will be my next vehicle of choice.

Just another sedan

The car is reliable, relatively low maintenance if you don't abuse it with poor driving habits. Average acceleration and gas mileage. Interior fabric seats are not very soil resistant. Will likely buy Toyota or Mazda sedan next time.

Using too much Oil

We were very happy with our Sonata. It rides very good and is great on gas. We usually get between 35 to 37 mpg on a trip and between 28 and 30 in town. The only problem we have is it is using a quart of oil every 1000 miles around town. On the expressway at 70 to 75 mph it is using a quart and a half sometimes two quarts. We did the 3000 mile check according to Hyundai and are waiting for the results.

There are a few things I don't like about this car but it will do since they didn't have anything else in my price range on the lot. The car I bought from them before was great I loved it I had just put right at 100,000 miles and needed lower miles on a car because I drive to Birmingham to work. I was upset to find out this car was not worth what I paid for it.

Needs improvement

This car is very spacious in the trunk which could fit a lot of luggage but it is not spacious inside. It is gas efficient but it’s slow. It takes A few minutes for it to catch up speed sometimes other cars are flying behind you when you’re entering the freeway due to the fact that it doesn’t pick up the speed that you want. Loved to drive at first unti issues

I had problems with my powerr steering after having my car for a year. I had to return three times to Central Hyundai not my dealership where purchased, to have it fixed. They worked with me each time. Now I really don’t enjoy driving or feel confident in driving it because, the steering has a strange feel in the wheel. I hesitate to purchase a new vehicle to see what recalls appear like this car had.

Good While She Lasted

We bought our 2016 Sonata used with 155k miles. I wasn't too concerned knowing the dependable reputation of Hyundai. My daughter drove the car for roughly 7k miles and the engine locked up. Total engine failure. We performed regular maintenance on the vehicle and had the known updates completed. The car was in good condition inside, outside, and under the hood. We're not exactly sure what happened to cause the engine failure, but we were very surprised given the reputation of the vehicle.

This Sonata has been nothing but a headache

From recall one week after purchase (had a loaner for a month) to chronic engine/oil consumption issues this Sonata has been a headache. Probably built in a Friday ha ha but I’m not laughing. Will probably not purchase a Hyundai again. John Blihar

Dependable Driver

My 2016 has been a good driving vehicle. Gas mileage has been what I expected. Seems to run better on quality gas. Comfortable to drive. Did have a problem with oil usage. Motor changed out. Car always drove well even when using oil. Weak points are blind spots when driving. Also lights seem to limit side vision.

Would be a Great Car With Engine Issue

The Sonata Sport is a nice looking car to own, with great mileage and comfortable, its only drawback is the engine is prone to using excessive oil and might quit without notice!
