Leaks oil

Leaks oil from drain plug. Replaced valve cover gasket, lower oil pan, and plug…still leaks a quart every 3 days. Gas mileage is good, runs strong. I would probably give Hyundai another chance with a brand new one. I did put 40,000 miles on it in one year.

Almost a Champ

The Sonata is a very good car but not without faults. The transmission always wants to be in the highest gear while in traffic. I understand this is for fuel economy but it tends to make acceleration sluggish and attempts at coaxing a proper response are difficult. The engine is also very noisy at start up. There is a loud tapping/ticking sound from the engine, this was also apparent in my 2014 Elantra and my be inherent in the direct injection engine. Otherwise the car is very comfortable, handles well and has returned very good gas mileage. It appears to be a very solid and well made car as well with excellent fit and finish.
