Fun little car

I have the manual transmission model with upgraded sound, moon roof, and half leather trim. It’s fun to drive because it’s so small and a manual. It has smooth steering and a comfortable drivers seat. One thing I wouldn’t expect is how little power it has. I sometimes have to downshift to go uphill. I should have gotten a turbo. The back seat is very cramped and accessed through a third door on the passenger side. The underperforming AC is my least favorite thing about the car. I’ve had my car maintenenced for it’s underwhelming AC but there’s nothing wrong... it’s just known to be bad. It stinks for living in Texas.

Great reliable vehicle

I first bought my veloster on realese in 2012. I couldn’t take it anywhere because everyone wanted to know what it was and had tons on questions about it. I still have it in 2020 and it runs great. Of course, you need to maintain it. The only drawback is the center touchscreen cluster is cracked and warped and will need replacement. This just happened a few months ago.

perfect car for me.

Loved the fact there is a 3rd door so getting into back seat was relatively easy. Car held to road well and was fun to drive. The gas mileage for the first 9 or 10 years was very good. Short length good for parking in city where I live. On down side felt repairs especially parts were too expensive.

It works

The vehicle drives but just barely. I can't believe they put such a small engine in this car. I mean come on. It works...but onlay barely.

Fun car to drive/own. The lighter weight provides great gas mileage, but it's a trade off as it doesn't handle well in even minor winter weather.

Great City Car

The car has a lot of get up for it's size and fuel economy. The only problem I have with it is that because it rides so low, every change in the road is felt and can really batter the car.

Looks Sharp but lacks speed to back up the looks.

I have the manual version of this which has been pretty reliable since I have owned mine. I am not a speed demon by no means but the car has very little power even though the looks say otherwise. It has a great sound system and is sure to turn heads.

Bad pint job

I have my veloster for 5 years and the pint start piling of! Also I have a black chevy Colorado 2008 and the pint still good.

Decent vehicle for the price

Great gas mileage, nice interior and exterior styling, car runs and responds well except, not impressed to much with the dual clutch transmission. Especially in that first gear. I have the automatic that can be driven manually or in auto mode, and in the first gear the car struggles to accelerate well and sometimes the RPM's shoot up. Honestly, I am not hopeful that the transmission on this vehicle will continue to last as long as the rest of the car. Everything else with the car is impressive though and very happy overall. But I would not recommend the DCT option to anyone.

It is very sporty but without a turbo...it looses to a prius. Not enough Head and Leg room.

Nice car but cheap build

This car looks really nice and has great gas mileage. I liked having the infotainment unit come standard. Keyless entry and push button start are also great features. Unfortunatly the build quality of the in cabin accessories is really shoddy. The stereo and cruise controls on the stearing wheel no longer work. The fan control for the airconditioner cuts out every once in a while and I have to twist it back and forth to get the fan to come on. The touch screen on the infotainment unit doesnt always respond unless you press abnormally hard. The inside door handles are wrapped in a chrome looking sticker material and have developed air bubbles in them. I seem to also be going through batteries abnormally fast. One of them which I purchased through and had installed at the dealer died in a little over a year.

Under power and you have to modified

My car have about 118 hours which is stupid if your going to buy one get the turbo on it. The car also makes a chirping noise around 15-2k rpm so be careful of that and you can't do uber in your cause cause it only have 3 doors

Veloster Performance

I enjoy that you can get up to 35 miles per gallon. The over all look of the car is very sporty. Good trunk space for a compact vehicle. I don't like that it shifts so hard. It becomes very jerky at times when it's shifting. I have an automatic, but feels like a stick shift at times. The hatch becomes very noisy as it ages, because of the glass. It's not as quiet and smooth anymore. My paint is only 5 years old and it's already starting to peel. It's not a horrible car, but I'm a bit disappointed with the overall performance.

2012 Veloster review.

I purchased my 2012 Veloster from Terry Reid in Cartersville in 2013 with 27,000 miles. At 65,000 had to spend $5000.00 for a new motor. It was 5,000 miles out of warenty and they would offer no help. Also, have had a constant ongoing problem with headlights blowing regularly. Love the design of car but haven’t been very impressed and definately wasn’t impressed at all with Terry Reid. A lot of things they failed to tell me I feel was salesman’s job. Learning experience. Riverside has been great on service.

The car is low to the ground and fun to drive the transaxle makes it go from an automatic to a manual transmission in seconds which can cause a lot of smiles for the driver, great on gas has an economy mode and sport mode. There is a surprising amount of space in the vehicle the small 3rd door makes it easier for people to get in the back. The radio is great even without serious radio and all that paid stuff, plenty of power ports the back seats come down, the hatch is lighted and can store more than you would imagine, air conditioning is super cold and my tints came out perfect. The wheels are on nice alloy trims and there is no spare tires so be careful and try to keep a donut handy. The car is perfect for short runs or long hauls. She wants to be a sports car but isn't but still can maneuver well on the highway to avoid other people. I don't like the plastic clips holding the bumpers in place as they can easily be knocked off with a bad road. I rate the car a 9 out of ten and I am sure the newer models are even more advanced and better performance parts.

Great value, multiple quality issues

Absolutely still love my Veloster after six years on the road. Had radio, instrument cluster, and catalytic converter fail within 3 years. Metal is very thin and paint has not held up very well. Has more space than it would seem to have.

Needed improvements but still a great car!

Picked up my veloster used with 24k miles. It’s a 6 speed manual trans version with upgraded interior and pano glass sunroof. The cars been awesome for the most part. Some minor issues but it’s a joy!
