Green and Happy

173,000 miles without a hitch. Ten years and counting and the only glitch has been the electronic keys pooping out. Over that ten years we've averaged just above 47 miles per gallon of gas. We've found the car to be roomy and a great help in carrying biggish loads with ease, heavy stuff and Christmas trees alike. We are getting a new Prius this year and can't wait!

Prius

I see the Prius everywhere and that says so much about the car. My car is a 2006 and still gets 40+ miles per gallon, looks great and has given me nothing but solid performance,. I often ask other Prius owners about how their car is doing and the reaction is the same as mine....One of the best if not the best car I have ever owned.

Love This Car

I bought my Prius with 19,000 miles on it and have had it for 10 years and put 100,000 miles on it.. Have had very little trouble mechanically, but have taken good care of it with regular servicing. Still gets 46 to 48 MPG.

Great car and gas mileage

Has been a very reliable car, overall. I have had to replace the battery more frequently than I would have expected, but other than that, I have been very happy with my car.

Very dependable and low cost to drive

I have 2006 Prius, bought it new, now has 150,000+ miles on it. Still has the original motor batteries, I was very concerned about the life of these batteries when i bought the car. Replaced the front break pads and rotors at around 120,000 miles, still have the original rear break pads and rotors. Had to replace the front wheel bearings at about 140,000 miles. There have been a couple of recalls, and a couple of error codes, nothing extraordinary. Other than that this car has been very dependable and inexpensive to maintain and drive every day. Still get 45 to 50 mpg depending on the weather. Extremely cold weather may knock the mpg down in the lower 40's

Best car I have ever owned.

My Prius is a 2006 model and I love it. Owning a vehicle use to be one of the more expensive items in my budget, now it's one of the least expensive - costs me less per month than my garbage service. I'm retired so I don't drive nearly as much as I use to - as a result I fill the gas tank about once every 6 weeks. And other than routine maintenance I have had no problems with the car. Even the expensive batteries are performing well - though when I purchased the car I was told they might need replacing in 8-10 years. At my last service visit I was told there was no indication that the batteries were any where near needing to be replaced. In my opinion this is an ideal car for a retired person - or anyone else for that matter. Occasionally I get letters from Toyota wanting to buy my used Prius - I always chuckle at those and say "no thanks". While a new car might be nice I don't want a car payment now and with only 31,700 miles on it I feel like I've just gotten it broken in. My dealership is a bit flummoxed though - I really mess up the maintenance schedule since I put so few miles on it between visits. If ever I were to get a vanity plate it would read Toyota "lymine". When I first bought the car it was the 2nd Prius on my block - now there are 8 of them for 10 houses :)

Reliable!

Northeast Montana when it is well below zero --no problem starting the car! It has been wonderful with very little upkeep costs! Driver seat -not good for me?

My 2006 Prius hybrid is the best car I've ever owned!

This car has been my mainstay form of transportation for almost 10 years. It's been thoroughly reliable and a pleasure to drive. I really enjoy saving money at the gas pump too! I plan to trade it in at some point for a more recent model Prius because I want an updated "informatics" system including better display, more user-friendly navigation tool, etc. I've had no major service issues (no system malfunctions, only one or two recalls for minor issues). The battery needed to be replaced once but it was still under warranty so it was taken care of quickly and efficiently. Maintenance costs have been minimal compared to other cars I've owned. All in all, it was a "best buy" 10 years go & according to Consumer Reports it's still highly rated for both safety & reliability.

Almost 10 years and still chugging along

I bought a 2006 Prius when the economic tax benefits made it a real bargain. It's been a bargain ever since. Low gas mileage, stellar maintenance and excellent performance make it the best car I've ever had. The Toyota garage has performed all my maintenance and I've had hardly a thing that needed replaced or repaired, mostly things that involve age such as belts or a starter battery (not the main battery assembly). I'm at 130K miles and she still drives like a little sports car. We will probably grow old together.

2006 Toyota Prius

This is the best car I have ever owned. I love driving it and love saving money by using much less gasoline. I mostly drive around the city - and since I am now retired - I don't drive nearly as much as I use to. Even though the car is 9 years old it only has 30,000 miles on. I average about 48-55 miles per gallon of gas around the city so fill it up about every 6 weeks. From being one of the most expensive items on my budget, now operating a personal vehicle is one of the least expensive! I also have not had any mechanical problems with this car. Toyota keeps asking if I want to sell the car back to them and get a new one .... No, thank you anyway! Don't want a car payment and - heck - this one is just broken in :)

Candy red Prius

My Prius has been the most reliable vehicle I've ever had. I had exactly three parts replaced since buying it in 2006: a battery, a front headlamp, and an exhaust system part. I still have the original brakes. The lifetime maintenance has long since paid for itself.
