LOVE my 2008 Toyota Prius

I love my Prius! It has lasted now over 100k miles with nothing but regular maintenance being done. And this car doesn't get babied! We drive on dirt roads about 25% of the time with it, and I never slow for a speed bump in my neighborhood! I expect it to run and it does reliably. And the gas mileage has always been fantastic! Still getting 57-59 mpg in town, unless it's summer and the a/c is running. That drags it down a bit. I'm not a car person - they are purely a practical need for me. I expect this car to last another 100k miles.

2008 Prius

My car is now ten years old and going strong. It’s had no serious problems. I plan to keep it running as long as possible. It’s been totally reliable, comfortable, a pleasure to drive, and always good-looking. Mileage has never gonebeow 41 mpg.

Tough little car

I purchased a 2008 Prius with 84,000 miles several years ago mainly for the gas economy. It delivered 57+mpg and that was quite a change from driving a V8 350 engine pickup. The car drives quietly and although not a sports car does have nice pickup and response. The interior is nice and comfortable and has plenty of space. The car is well made/designed and sure is tough. Service issues have been limited to what is expected for the 164,000 miles I have on it now and keeps running reliably. I expected needing more service with the mileage but it has been minimal. I am impressed with Toyota quality and have decided to make my next vehicle a Toyota also.

11+ years old, 275K miles and runs like a champ

I love this car. It needs almost no maintenance; outside oil, filters, and tires. Starter batteries last 5 years; the hybrid battery 275K miles. Needed a $600 catalytic converter a year or so ago; would do that again. Most reliable car I've ever owned, and if this one dies I will get another one. Have to say, though, it looks like it will keep going for a good long while.

Prius is the best

Love my Prius, 281714 miles and still going. Hope to get to 350,000, then I will buy another, 200 words is a waste of talking and writing, I strive 100 miles a day and I’ve only had 1 flat tire and check engine once. Can’t do any better than that!

Best Car I have ever owned!

I bought my 2008 Toyota Prius in December 2008 and it just died on me in March 2020 - almost 12 years & a little over 325,000 miles! Besides normal maintenance; tires; headlights & wipers - the only thing I had replaced were the water pumps (4yrs ago). I had the original hybrid battery still in it, when the CVT/transmission failed. I ran that vehicle long & hard - it served me extremely well and with great gas mileage. I'm buying a new 2020 Prius to replace it.

My baby

I love my Prius so much I don’t drive my truck anymore. Also save on gas and compact compare to my v8 Nissan Pathfinder. Thinking about upgrade to a newer model of Prius. Didn’t know it that popular until I got it.

A car like no other

I’ve owned 3 & I’m not a “Car Guy.” These cars are incredibly Low on the maintenance scale. I’m at 115k miles and I’m just now starting to deal with some things that are wearing out. Looking to get another one soon.

What can I say- it is bomb proof!

My gen 2 2008 Prius is not my favorite looking car but that said, it truly is an amazing engineering feat (tip of the hat to THE OTHER GUYS there...) ! If I do what I should: be very light on the gas pedal, follow posted speed limits and draft off of larger vehicles- in the Summer I can easily achieve 51-53 mpg depending on highway/city driving mix. This falls in the cooler months once I need to depend on the heater, as it relies on additional engine run time. Even with that, I typically only go down to a paltry 46-48 mpg. Truly outstanding. I have owned the car for the past 50k miles and so far it has only cost me a set of tires, oil changes, a set of HID headlights and windshield wipers. I love to kiddingly hate on it (every Prius owner should watch THE OTHER GUYS for some comedic perspective) but also hate to admit that I love it...

Driving a Prius

I love my 08 Prius. It is a zippy car that gets awesome gas mileage. There is plenty of room for costco shopping trips when you fold down the back seats. My Prius has over 150,000 miles and still runs great. I plan on driving it for many more years.

It's virtually free transportation.

I've had it since new, 160,000 miles ago. it's been paid for for years and it still gets 40 mpg. Only one significant repair, done this past summer: the big battery, $3,000. But that's done and I hope to get another bunch of years on it! It's almost free now, just doing oil changes. I'm gentle with it and we take the other car on long trips.

Great car

My Prius is a 2008 second generation hybrid and has been the most reliable car I e owned in my 74 years. It has 181,000 miles and other than brakes and tires has had virtually no major issues. We have toured all 48 continental states usually doing 10,000 to 20,000 mile road trips at a time, we also drive from south Florida to PA two to three times a year. I believe the only somewhat major repairs were a front wheel bearing at 150,000 miles and recently the hybrid inverter water pump need replaced. The hybrid battery is the original and so far shows no sign of weakness, the auxiliary (starter battery) has been replaced only once. Brakes last 60-70,000 miles and tires 40-50,000 miles. I get about 40mpg which I’m sure would be more except for the fact most of our miles are high speed highway driving. I will definitely buy another Prius when I need to retire my present one.

Perfect car

I traded in my jaguar for a Prius years ago. Very comfortable, easy to maneuver, can pack more gear than the Jag AND we drive for 100’s of miles without a fill up. Insurance, gas, maintenance sooo much better. A better profile.

2008 Prius - Great overall, if pricey

My 2008 model Prius is fairly comfortable, although I have to keep a cushion behind my back or I get lower back pain (this is the only car I've had that happen in.) Toyota always has great quality, and the Prius doesn't disappoint. It's built to conserve gas, not to be 'fun to drive,' but it's not difficult to drive - it accelerates and turns as well as it needs to. I didn't get it fully loaded, I do like the backup cam but it doesn't have the lines that show trajectory like in newer models. Doesn't score high on value for money because no new car is good value for money, and the Prius is expensive. But I like the design - you can fit a surprising amount of cargo in the back. I even put the seats down and loaded a large dresser from Ikea into it (don't remember exact dimensions, but one end of the long boards was against the back hatch and the other end in the front seat.)
