Nice car for the money.

Love my car. I intend to drive it till it just can’t go any more!!! I don’t understand why it is no longer manufactured. I also don’t understand why I have to write a minimum of 200 words to be done with this voluntary survey.

Great Basic Car

My car is a 2012 Accent GLS sedan with manual transmission. I bought it used in 2014. I got this as a commuter car and a backup to my Subaru Outback. I average 32 to 34 mpg on my commutes and have seen up to 42 mpg on the highway (and that is in a fully loaded car with the AC on). This is a great car to learn to drive manual. The low end torque is high enough that you can practically pop the clutch without adding power to get the car moving at a slow walk in first gear. This is also a great feature in stop and go traffic. My only beefs with this car are acceleration under heavy load and the OEM tires. With the car loaded for a weekend trip with a family of 4 (yes, the trunk is big enough for all the stuff) and the AC on, the car will not accelerate in gears 4 to 6. The OEM Kumho tires were utterly useless in snow. I put some General Altimax RT43 tires on it and the car is quite good in snow now. All-in-all it fits my needs as a second car very well and I'm very happy with this purchase.

A very good automobile. Good on gas and easy care.

I will purchase another one , sometimes e in the future. It is a very economical automobile. With the increase of gas, this car will not cost an arm and leg to fill the tank up. Keep tank full when is 1/2 full refill and cost will be even less.

love it

Not too many people prefer the accent but because of its sleek small appearance, it works for me. It's great on gas and I've had little issues with it being over 100k. Maintenence is inexpensive and it's easy to maintain!

Cute and competent economy

After 2 years of driving my Accent hatch, I still find it quite attractive. Best qualities have been its reliability, great cabin ergonomics, hatchback versatility, and the Hyundai service experience. Finally, the choice of Hyundai to use 6 speed auto transmissions instead of cats was very smart. Too many cats have given their owners reliability headaches, not to mention disconcerting drive dynamics. My only druthers would be to have more impressive (and more accurately measured) fuel economy...for the class it is mediocre, and a bit more responsive accelerator tuning. It has plenty of power but can be annoying in that you must floor it to get anything more than very tepid response. I assume the manual transmission variant would not have this issue at all.

The only thing I don't like about the car is that it doesn't have automatic lights. I keep on forgetting to put the lights on.This is a dangerous thing. I like the fact that it is a small car with comfortable seating and lots of storage room.

I am almost completely satisfied, just wish I had power steering init as it would make my driving experience much better.Other than that, I am satisfied ..as I added in the cons box, I also wish I had a trunk button on the key fob to open the trunk, as it would make ot easier for me to open the trunk, as I am handicapped.

Reliable

Have my car for 7 years and is it reliable and runs good. The only thing I do not like is that the battery life is short and had to replace the battery like three times, when putting the windows up or down I feel the power pulling and lights seem to dim.

Home away from home

I use this vehicle in a commercial capacity traveling all over the CONTINENT east to west, north to south putting sometimes 20k mi. ,10 of which it's being towed and 10 driven, in a 6 week period. I put alot of $ into maintenance as I'm using it like it's a big rig, never the less, I sleep in it many nights when on the road, take oodles of supplies in it for all seasons, and conditions. It's being used way outside it's design parameters most likely. There is however, I believe and early blogs 2013,etc. confirm what I discovered after buying it used in 2015, the rear has a design issue and I run through tires. Every 20k mi. or so, I need to put new tires on the rear to be safe. It may be the tow assembly has an installation problem causing off tracking when being towed but since the blogs from 2013 had owners complaining about running through tires I figure it's not the tow assy.. I use the car doing Uber when at home for an extended time. I love the car. It's comfortable for a compact and does the job. By the way, it's a manual so that I can flat tow it behind vehicles I'm transporting...

I like it

I love my accent because is dependable, except for some minor issues I had a the beginning, like my break light, upper side, was not working, incabin mirror falling off, tires wearing off so quickly. Besides that I love my accent because is dependable and it takes me to where I need to go. Improvement on the radio is need it, I don't have a connection for my new iPhone. the radio is very basic there is no blue tooth.

attractive, practical and affordable basic transport

I have always liked the look of my hatchback accent. The stylinging has aged very well. Love the interior ergonomics and cargo practicality as well. My only complaint is Hyundai's overly optimistic fuel economy estimates. I am a fan of super thrifty cars. In that department, the accident is just okay, not the best. Far from the 40mpg hwy it was originally claimed to achieve. I routinely average only 33-34 hwy driving extra conservatively. Still decent, but just a disappointment when rivals like Versa note and Honda Fit do 40 or so. Still, overall, the 5 door Accent is a great little car.

Hyundai 2012 Accent points

Generally, a fun and easy car to drive. Visibility is limited when I am close to objects such as curbs. The vehicle get good fuel economy (40 miles per gallon highway). The sun visor on the driver's side is defective (an annoyance). The overall reliability is very good to excellent. I had the car for 8 years and I had no problems with the power train, electrical and fuel systems. Overall this has been an excellent car to own.

Great small car

We bought this car new when the new model was introduced. Its been a solid commuter for my wife for five years. Now that we are retired its great for shopping trips in the city. This car will go to our granddaughter in 18 months when she can drive.

Review of Hyundai 2012 accent by the owner the entire life of the car.

The car has over 104,000 miles for about 3yeRs I drove back and forth from my home in Georgetown Texas to Ohio twice a year for business which is 3,000. - 4,000 miles depending on weather conditions and route, plus 500-750 miles for my business which too me all over the state giving speeches to students, parents and teachers (about a total of 12500 student and 2,000 parents. Never had a mechanical problem and have only replaced 1 coil, spark plugs an air conditioner compressor (this is Texas).
