good used vehicle, new to me even though the years would lead you towards an older car, I just find it being broken in still, looks good for an older model would pass for brand new if looking at it from a distance

Great SUV

My 2012 Santa Fe has been reliable right up to getting a notice for an open recal of a potential problem with a connecting rod bearing. I hope they resolve the recall soon. I'd like to trade up but the open recall hurts my trade in value.

Great vehicle with no major issues for this model and year, very dependable car, love it, glad I purchased it and would recommend it highly (any Santa Fe models). Might purchase another Hyundai again.

Santa Fe

I really like my Santa Fe. The responsiveness of my vehicle is fantastic. I was with my son on 470 when a person in another car decided to pull into my lane I stepped on the gas and was able to move into the other lane avoiding a wreck. My Santa Fe is comfortable and I just enjoy driving the car as much as i dislike driving due to the idiots on the highway. I just like the car period. I honestly believe I can get 200,000 miles out of the car as long as I maintain it properly.

Excellent car

I bought the car from JP’s Auto sales in Pawley’s Island and have been very pleased with it. It drives well and is reasonably comfortable for long trips which I often have to make to do my job. The leather seats are a plus. It has a large amount of hidden storage which allows me to carry almost everything i used to carry in my previous vehicle’s (a pickup truck) tool box. It has an extremely tight turning radius which I appreciate as I park on the street in a residential neighborhood, and I can turn completely around without having to do a “Y” turn. It gets about 22 mpg which is not as much as I would like, but is notably better than my pickup. The AC is great and is split for the comfort of the driver and passenger.

Overall I like it, but it has a TON of road noise and rides really rough. AND, it doesn't get NEAR the gas mileage it was rated at. Overall, a decent vehicle.

Too many little problems

Thankfully the warranty has covered everything. Too much of my personal time lost due to small problems these mechanics can't fix the 1st time .

Santa Fe loaner, 2017

Vehicle steering was to soft for me and it tended to wonder on the highway. I was always correcting. I understand you have a new electronic steering system.? That could be it, but it does not give me a good road feel. I drove 40,000 miles per year over 20 years and was involved in almost all Automotive design and production as a machine tool builder and road feel is important to me. The wondering may have been alignment problems but over sensitive steering and lack of road feel are important to me.

No major complaints

After owning my Santa Fe for 5 years now having only a few major issues with it I find myself very glad I bought the extended warranty. Over all car has been reliable. On cross country trips the seats are uncomfortable and if you drop anything into the back seats it's gone forever.

Okay Car

Ergonomics are the weakest point of this vehicle. E.g. Wiper lever is anti- intuitive. Cruise control switches were much better on the 2004 Sonata. Fastest speed is achieved by the lowest position. Heavy steering. Suspension just a bit too stiff.

The Santa Fe exterior is a nice style. It is roomy and gets great gas mileage. However there are a few things Hyundai could improve on. The paint quality. Scratches up easily. Thin metal used on the body easily dents.

not impressed

I have had a number of issues with this car. Do not like the touchy gas peddle, sits to high, hard to get in, and had to have two wheel censers replaced with only 42000. miles. I believe my next car we will be going back to a Ford.

Repairs

For a 2012 vehicle have had many problems. Have had idler pulley, alternator, oil sending switch and ball joint fixed in the last year. The vehicle has only 79000 miles. I like the vehicle but I'm always thinking what's next.
