Super in so many ways, but...
On the overall this is a competent vehicle. For me the best two vehicles in this class were the Highlander and the Subaru Outback. At the time, the local Subaru dealer was being a pig and wanted $5K OVER the MSRP. The local Toyota dealer had a good reputation and we were pleased with the Prius we had purchased there a couple of years before. The car looks modern and much like so many cars in its class, nice but not distinctive. Its cargo room is impressive and can when packed properly hold up to 24 banana boxes! The Highlander rides quite nicely especially on the interstates. Mileage on my gas model is only so-so. No matter how driven, 22 mpg is all you are going to get. I would have bought the hybrid but there was a 6-8 month wait and I needed a new vehicle. There is no bargaining anymore on price. One feels good just getting the car at MSRP. You need to spend another $3,000 on the extended warranty that covers the chips and computer stuff. Seats are comfortable. No issues with acceleration. All the computer crap could be made easier to use, especially for we old timers. The fine saleswoman, Marci, set the stuff up for me and told me to leave it alone! Car should automatically come with a heated steering wheel in the Pacific Northwest! I am looking to get a new Highlander that is a hybrid even though the car has only 16,000 miles on it. By 2035 no more gas powered cars is the rumor. Well by then I would be 97 and probably not care.
