Feature rich commuter car as reasonable price
The Hybrid Sonata has been everything I expected it to be. I did not want a sports car and I didn't want to pay for a luxury vehicle. It has been a great balance of features and price. Cross shopping between a Camry, Accord and K5 in 2022, I had found this was everything I needed with a hybrid powertrain. The others offered Hybrids but with turbos, the NA ICE with Hybrid in the Sonata was more appealing to me. Speaking of that powertrain, it gets great range and MPGs. At times the electric motor and ICE feels clunky and not the smoothest. The transmission can feel like it's straining itself and not finding the right gearing, requiring me to use the paddle shifters. The tires that have come with the sedan are not the best in my opinion. They often slip with a heavy accelerator application, and very commonly if there is any water on the ground. I would have loved if this powertrain had 4wd to help it out. Regardless the vehicle has done great as a commuter car, saving me money and being comfortable enough for day to day use. I intentionally chose the limited trim for every feature it offered. The heated/ventilated seats, panaramic roof, physical hvac controls, HUD, Active cruise control features, and the Smart Park (love that, and very handy when I need it). I think the interior is almost perfect. I know the recent model update addressed some stuff, but I loathe the button gear selector. I would have much preferred the stalk version in the latest ones, and I would prefer a lever over anything. The second knock on the interior is I wish the steering wheel came out farther (I'm 6'1") and the seat went lower. Lastly, if it had auto folding mirrors this would be a perfect car. Regardless I am very happy with the Hybrid Sonata and don't regret my choice I made at the time when I was shopping.
Lastly, my Hampton Gray paint chipped very easily, and it got damaged very fast within the first months of ownership.
