Best vehicle I have ever owned!
After suffering catastrophic damage to a previous Saturn we owned, we bought our Honda CRV new in 2006 based on (among other things like roominess, maneuverability, and comfort) it’s workmanship, safety features, and low cost maintenance record. Throughout our ownership, we have maintained it regularly at Honda dealerships (and rarely at an outside mechanic) since purchase. In that time, we’ve had only 2 major repairs - the 1st time when we were sideswiped by another car, and the 2nd time when the air conditioning unit imploded. Damage to our car from the hard sideswipe was fairly minor (especially compared to his Suburu which was totaled!), and it was promptly repaired to like new very quickly afterward. The problem with our air conditioner was a recall issue that the year of our vehicle, unfortunately, fell outside of, but we had it repaired at a reputable garage for an affordable cost using Honda parts. Aside from this problem, the only maintenance we’ve had to do on our Honda has been normal wear and tear stuff that doesn’t break the bank. We are now at 12 years and 120,000 miles into our ownership of this car and will keep it until repairs costs outweigh it’s usefulness, which we don’t expect to happen for a long time! It has honestly been the best car I’ve ever owned, and when we have to replace it, it will be with another Honda vehicle!
