2006 CRV

Doesn't hold up in a low speed crash! Honda has lower their standards over the years. Gas mileage should be much higher after all these years. Shame on Honda! Bring back a hatchback!

Good car but, you can hear outside noises.

Good car, but 1) the black interior on the door comes off on your skin , matts are cheap and should be so loud! When I bought this car new, only had 8 miles on it, I didn't notice how loud till a few day after I drove it. Sounds like the window is down. passengers have asked me it the windows are down.

Road noise is a nuisance

The road noise is terrible. I have to turn my radio at nearly full volume and I never talk to the passengers in my car because it’s too exhausting to yell a conversation. I drive long distances a lot, approximately 10-20k miles per year. Will never buy another. Mechanically it’s great.

Very reliable!

A little concerned that there have been 2 recalls. I think I will buy a Toyoto or a Hyundai next time. Very noisey on freeway.

My mini tank!

Love this suv it is comfortable to drive and carry my stuff in just wish the mpg were in the mid twenties. I will keep it going as long as possible.

Very reliable vehicle.

Good price for the service of this vehicle, energy efficient, hardy and "all while drive" advantage. Interior could have been more comfortable and advanced. Never faced any issue or problem while on the road.

Excellent Reliable Tough Strong But Pricey to Fix Get your Wallet Ready

Most Hondas are inexpensive to fix. However this CRV EX is very expensive to fix even parts from AutoZone cost a bit. Also changing the headlight bulbs on this car is a major issue because of the design that Honda made. Hunter uses a spring in clip to hold the headlight bulb in and you cannot see what you are doing you have to do it by feel. So when I need new headlight bulbs I usually just take it to a body shop because they have to remove the grill so the mechanic can see what he's doing. The new C RVs are also made with this problem as a result I will not be buying Hondas anymore after my CRV has run its course. Contrary to popular belief Hondas are not easy to work on and these headlight bulbs are very hard to get out due to the clip design. With that aside now I see why so many people like this car. I drove my CRV from New York to California and back to New York this car didn't so much as give me a hiccup. And that's with 170,000 plus miles on it. I bought the car when it had 120,000. The four-wheel drive is absolutely stunning this car has no business handling as well in the snow as it does and it eats ice for breakfast. Cloth seats not as confortable as i would hope. The versatility up this car outperforms the 2006 BMW X3 which is the car I was going to buy but the CR-V actually has more cargo space and its larger inside. I can cram a lot of things in the cargo space. The rear seating is surprisingly comfortable there is enough Headroom for people who are 6ft tall and there is enough leg room. I do wish the driver and passenger seats had more lumbar support options and also the seats seem to not go back far enough but then again it's a 2006. The car puts out about 155-160 Horsepower. So it definitely needs more horses for a small SUV but it's enough power to get you where you need to be and not get stuck in the snow. Good on gas too. Overall as I said the CR-V is like a tank it just keeps going but when it breaks it breaks and you better have your wallet ready because the mechanics will not be forgiving

Great Car for the value.

I will drive this car until it falls apart. Because of the work I do the spare wheel on the outside is great. Do not like the new Honda CRV.

most reliable vehicle

Had a 1997 cr-v with 234000 miles on it. Decided to get a new one, but didn't like the smaller windows and profile so looked for a 2006 that had the bigger windows and the bigger luggage area. Got in in 2012, had 75000 on it which was no problem because it's a Honda. Now have 133000 miles and have not had any problems. It's been camping, cross country vacations, every day driving with occasional duty as a moving van. Love it

2006 Honda CR-V

I love this vehicle! It is fun to drive and economical to maintain. Its comfort and maneuverability are outstanding (note: I drove a Ford Windstar before. It was like maneuvering boat in water. I hated it.) It meets all of my needs. While not a problem for me, I think that a tall person would have difficulty finding a comfortable position in the front seats. The height of the seats is critical to me as I have some physical challenges and these are perfect. It is not a strain to get down or up in these seats.

Why I like the 2006 more than current models

Bought new, we've put 148 thousand miles on this one. This was the last year that had the back hatch swing to the side rather than lift overhead and also the last year to mount the spare on the hatch. I always seem to get flats when I am fully loaded and off on some adventure. And it usually is raining. Or snowing. With the tire on the back and the jack, et cetera in an accessible compartment emergency tire changing is doable. I also like the picnic table that covers the spare tire well to provide a level loading service behind the rear seat. And yes, there is still a spare tire well even though the tire resides on the hatch. The well is handy for storing ropes, trailer hitches, battery cables and even extra freight when space is required or security desired. The car is easy to park and maneuver. The roof rack is easier to use on this model because there is not an antenna sticking up to get knocked off by a 4x8 sheet of plywood. I've hauled a lot of plywood on this rack, just not much at any one time.

2006 Honda CRV

Absolute best car that I have ever owned! Trouble free, easy to drive, handy to use for almost anything! The interesting thing is that the features such as the swing out door (tailgate) that I thought I wouldn't like have turned out to be the best parts of the car. My next car will be a new CRV.

Still loving my 2006 CRV!

I bought my 2006 CRV, late in the model year after someone bought it, put 2,300 and returned it. Perfect deal for me as a 20 something year old teacher, who thought she would only be able to afford a Civic. I loved the sunroof and all the extras that the EXL came with. I was a great car for me then. Hauling tons of papers to grade, but still a fun car to drive that could fit a whole lot of underpaid teachers out for a Friday night of tacos and beer aka "book club". Then I turned 30, got married and had a baby all with in one year. No problem, we still had tons of room. Loved all the storage and safety features. Now at the end of my 30's and one more kiddo, it is still that fun car I bought in my 20's. Trips to the beach, home improvements stores, or whatever, we all have enough room, the kids love the "hole in the ceiling" and I love the 6 disc cd changer, because when the car is empty, this mama can switch from kid tunes and rock out to the sound track of my 20's. Now with 105,000 on my 2006 Honda CR-V, I trust Honda of Gladstone to keep us running in tip- top shape, as this car carries precious cargo.

Great car

I currently have 114,000 miles on this car and I hope it makes it another 100,000. I wish I could get a new car exactly like this one. Although the gear shift is on the dash, I love not having a console between the front seats. I can put my purse in the space and don't have to worry about my purse flying on the floor if I put on the brakes hard.
