First SUV
I recently purchased a 2026 Hyundai Tucson as a replacement for my Hyundai Sonata after driving it for 15 years, and overall I’m happy with the decision. The car-buying experience was easy enough and the Tucson fit within my under-$30,000 budget.
I appreciate having a regular gear shift and buttons (never been a fan of screen takeover). As a taller person, I appreciate the leg room and more than enough room to lift the steering wheel off my knees. It’s practical, comfortable, and feels like a great value for the price.
My main complaint is that my trim doesn’t include front parking sensors to warn when you’re too close to objects. I assumed that would be standard by now, so that was disappointing. Another downside is the limited and somewhat less attractive color choices (my sonata was a deep blue that always got compliments) available on the non-hybrid models. I also don’t like how it feels or sounds when driving in sports mode (that’s more just preference).
Overall, though, I think the Tucson is a solid vehicle with great space, value, and comfort for the money.
