Great Reliable Family Vehicle

Love this car. Never fails to start, has good turning radius, seats 7, gets decent gas mileage and requires few repairs absent normal maintenance.

My Toyota Highlander has been a greatly dependable car. I keep up with the service needs and have low mileage. My big complaint is that the paint they used on 2004 model I have is a single faced paint and has not held well. The engine is great but the paint is flat and coming off the hood. Will need to look into getting it painted if I plan to keep it as it is looking shabby. It was garaged for at least 2 years.

Toyota quality in question

Overall good light truck ,Great in snow ,Spirted driving not really its game .But Toyota has a rust problem living here in north east .Yearly have to wire brush rear drive housing support and suspension compounts .body it self good.Hard to clean under middle seats don't know why so little space meby gas tank ? Compounts like struts,water pump Airconditioner clutch and compressor don't last as long as my GM vehicles and very expensive to replace .Left tranny mount rotted away right not so bad after140.000 miles I expect more .have had 2 GM cars my hole life 56 now Pontiac replaced water pump after 285000 miles both cars and truck maintained according to manufactures service ,but I Chang Transmission fluid on Toyora every 30.000 miles like on my cars and flush out cooling system on truck same.Hate thes plastic lights on all new cars bring back the glass or a material that can take the sun and sand

Vehicle is great, wind/road noise irritating, quality built into car is great. Repairs expensive. Why do I need to write a novel? Its a great day in November, use a little rain, but overall a great month

Runs like New

With 253K miles, the Highlander is totally reliable and just keeps on running. I do scheduled maintenance and regular oil changes. Will keep it for a long time.

2004 Toyota Highlander Limited, 3.3L V6

Absolutely reliable. No unscheduled maintenance in 115,000 miles. We got 12 years out of the original battery---which is unbelievable, especially since the kids tried to kill it twice by leaving doors ajar overnight so the dome lights ran it down! After a day on the slow charger each time, that battery gave us several more years of service before really wearing out. 7 passengers are no problem if those in the back seat aren't taller than 5'8" or so. Would like to get a few more MPG, even though this is competitive w/other brands and models of this type. Best was 23 MPG on long road trip w/2 adults and 80 lbs of luggage/gear. Worst was 17 on short trips, all in town. Average 19 - 21.

My 2004 Highlander

Love this car! So reliable (mechanically) haven't had any trouble with the car. Have taken it on long distance trips. Back interior area so roomy, allowed for lots of successfully trips moving my son's back & forth to college. Been a Toyota customer for 3 out of my 4 cars that I've owned. Always reliable great performance.
