2023 Sonata

We are overall pleased with our 2023 Sonata but it has one issue that has concerned us. Sometimes when you turn the key to start the car it hesitates. We took it to the Hyundai dealer in Columbia (Stivers Hyundai) under warranty but they were unable to duplicate the issue. That was about a month ago and now the car is out of warranty. We are senior citizens and very concerned that the car will not start sometime and we will be stranded away from home. We read online that this is an ongoing issue with some Hyundai cars. We wonder if the starter needs to be replaced but we cannot afford it out of warranty. What can be done about this issue?

Extremely reliable

This is the second Hyundai Sonata Limited I have owned. I owned the first for almost 9 years before getting my present 2023 Sonata Limited. I have been very pleased with both cars, and found them to be extremely reliable. I also have found the interiors to be well designed, attractive, and wear well.

Leased Sonata

Too low to the ground. Handles poorly in the snow. Push button shift is hard to operate. Radio screen is very touchy, but at times unresponsive. No rear window wiper.

My only concern is the transmission. The way it shifts I don’t like. I wish if when I want to keep it in manual mode it would stay.

Mostly good. Hate the auto parking brake. Comes on when on level ground. Happy not to have the auto enine offf whan stopped. Grea accelaeration. Ample truck. Comfortable back seat.

my car got a 4 because of poor driver head room and a bad owners man

i love my 2023 Hyundai Sonata. However the owners manual is not worth anything. It is extremely difficult if not impossible to look up anything for find anything and I'm getting tired of running to the dealer anytime i can't figure out something on my own. I'm sure the service dept. is tired of me coming in with simple questions.

Hyundai Lease

The vehicle generally performed well, but it does not handle well in the winter in the Northeast. Twice I've had to replace a front tire (left front) because it had a road hazard not covered by warranty! I recently had to replace the "starter" as it was acting "funny". The tires recently became rather noisy and wind was more noticeable.

Great Value For The Money

My past few cars have been BMW 5 Series, which currently cost around $75,000. Being retired, I was looking for something more economical as I don’t drive very far. The Hyundai Sonata cost $35,000 and perfect for my needs. It is more luxurious than I originally planned to buy, for the cost I was able to splurge. The car is very roomy, comfortable to drive, and has superb technology. The many cameras are particularly helpful. The little bit of service that has been required was handled seamlessly by the dealer.

nice looking, great hw milage, good warranty, good ride, poor seats,

good looking, great highway milage, good warranty, terrible seats, has good safety features. I do not like electric emergency brake. The cable dip stick is a joke and two different dealers agreed. The start-stop feature is annoying. As soon as I drove off the lot I discovered that my model omitted the lumbar support! Why? The low gas indicator is too low and short people can't see it because of the steering wheel: place it higher. Reliability is unknown at only 12,000 miles. my past two Hyundai cars were junk when turned 45,000. Oil consumption, oil leaks, one bad strut, and I was very diligent with maintenance. Overall, it is a mixed bag saved by the warranty. I hope you up the quality. I do appreciate my car and hope I have a better outcome with this one. Thanks for asking. P.S. Solve GDI issues by adding injectors to wash off the valves like Toyota did and you will take a big step forward.

Google Maps is not working

I recently brought my vehicle in for service due to an issue with Apple CarPlay not functioning properly. Specifically, Google Maps and Apple Maps do not display on the vehicle screen at all, making navigation unusable. The service department responded by directing me to Hyundai’s built-in navigation update website (mapnsoft.com), which is unrelated to my concern. My issue is not with Hyundai’s internal navigation system, but with Apple CarPlay itself. I have already taken all recommended troubleshooting steps on my end, including: Using a certified Apple cable Resetting CarPlay and iPhone settings Updating iOS and apps Testing with another iPhone The problem persists, which strongly indicates a vehicle-side issue (infotainment system, USB port, or software/firmware). Unfortunately, instead of diagnosing the actual problem, the response I received did not address the issue and shifted responsibility away from the dealership. I expect a proper inspection of the vehicle’s infotainment system and CarPlay functionality. This is a core feature of the vehicle and should work reliably. I hope Hyundai ensures that service departments provide accurate guidance and take ownership of diagnosing and resolving such issues.

Solid Car

This car is my first car I’ve ever purchased myself. The premium features for the price were unbelievable, I couldn’t pass on it. I’m upset with the recalls but most new cars have those nowadays. This car is perfect for the daily commute.

Sonata is great value and reliable

very pleased with my Hyundai Sonata. The only thing that annoys me is how low the front scoop is and it drags on may parking lot dividers and curbs. Must be very carful for this not to happen. Lack of a front camera is annoying and would help solve this problem.

No power on take off.

No power on take off. Ok too many gears 1st and 2nd sometimes rev to high like the transmission is slipping
